Cupboards & Roses is pleased to introduce our custom Swedish and Gustavian style Made-to-Order furniture, crafted by hand to your specifications in the Berkshire Hills.
As specialists in 18th and 19th century painted Swedish furniture, we have often had requests for Swedish and Gustavian antiques in forms that are hard or impossible to find – a bed, for instance, that will fit a modern, king-sized mattress. After much thought, we now offer our clients a complementary range of high quality, handcrafted pieces in the Swedish style and individually made to the client’s requirements.
We use a small, local, family-owned workshop with the experience of three generations. Our cabinetmaker pays homage to his Scandinavian heritage by working with traditional forms and techniques. For our customers, he has made Swedish beds, large dining tables, Gustavian-style chests of drawers and benches, even chairs to fill out a set of Swedish antiques.
When you have decided to acquire a custom-made Swedish replica, the process will work like this:
You decide on a style, perhaps giving us a photograph as a reference.
We discuss with you your preferences for
Decorative details, color, finish, and hardware;
The exact dimensions of the finished piece.
Using this information, we prepare a measured shop drawing for your approval.
We ask for a 50% deposit. When we receive the deposit, your piece is placed onto the cabinetmaker's schedule, and we are able to provide a delivery date, generally between 10 and 12 weeks later.
During construction, we send you a sample of the painted finish for your approval, then stay in touch to confirm every detail with you.
When your piece is finished, we arrange for delivery.
You can see that the process of creating your Made-to-Order Swedish replica is a partnership among the customer, our skilled cabinetmaker, and Cupboards & Roses. By working together, we create the perfect piece for your home – and for the rest of your life.
