Swedish Secretary with Carved Detail

Rare and unusual Swedish secretary, circa 1800, in two parts. Carved detail suggests a primitive interpretation of the prevailing Gustavian style. Reeded lozenges are bracketed with asymmetrical stars on the front and sides of the bottom section. The drop front has an applied book support on the outside and conceals a bank of eight interior drawers. Shaped bracket feet. The top section has two raised panel doors under dentil molding and a bold cornice.
